WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Mick Foley was handcuffed Sunday night on Long Island ... but don't worry, the hardcore legend wasn't arrested -- it was all for a live cooking challenge.

Mick got in on the action last night, despite his lack of culinary skill, during "Robert Irvine LIVE" -- a stage show featuring the Food Network star taking suggestions from the crowd for various games.

We're told Foley and Irvine were required to be handcuffed together while facing off against two other Long Island area chefs during the challenge ... and Robert was banned from using his knives.

Despite the setbacks, The Chop and Sock connection were victorious during a blindfolded taste test with audience members ... and Mick Foley tells Pro Wrestling Sheet the challenge was fun, but "as terrifying as the speed round from Family Feud."

After the show, Robert and Mick posed for a pic with Noelle Foley and Impact Wrestling star Jeremy Borash -- who also produces "Robert Irvine LIVE" -- and Mick says it was a very entertaining night.
